Session I - Painting Moods in Watercolor

On an early morning in December, a light fog envelopes a lake shore…Tops of the mountains catch the light of the setting sun….These scenes and many more are examples of how your surroundings can influence your painting. Join us in the set of classes as we learn to select warm and cool colors that will best convey the mood you want to suggest.

Please note that all of my classes are Special Techniques classes that are designed to help you paint loose & free as you learn how to control the water in watercolor. You will learn techniques designed to help you achieve light in your watercolor landscapes. “ Throwing” & “Pouring” paint helps to easily create beautiful washes while learning color transition control is fun and keeps paint “less-detailed.”

One – Day Workshops
Semi-Abstraction in Watercolor
Friday - June 22………………….........................................Time: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

Take a different approach to your watercolor painting by blending realism with abstraction to create a semi-abstract painting. We will study the elements and principles of design, which I will simplify which will help you to easily create a great composition.
Cost: $70. Supply list mailed upon registration. Bring a bag lunch.

The Many Moods of Water in Watercolor
Friday - July 27………………….........................................Time: 9:30 am – 4:00 pm

In this workshop we will explore the effects of the “many moods of water” – still water, moving water, waterfalls. Lots of hands on exercises. Leave this workshop with at least 3 quarter sheet paintings ready to mat and frame

Matcutting & Picture Framing

Class size strictly limited to 3 people

A Two-Part Workshop

Day Class - Monday June 4 & June 18 Time: 10:00 am– 1:00 pm

Evening Class – Monday June 11 & 25 Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Cost: $95 plus framing supplies

Mat & frame your favorite poster, photo, print, etc. in this two (2) part class where you will learn HANDS ON how to cut single and double mats, choose your own matboard style and color, learning how to choose your border width and frame, the do’s and don’t’s of matting, and how to measure. Frame with your choice of metal frame from samples. Wood frame demo given (but framing choices are metal, due to time constraints.) Learn how and where to buy your supplies in order to keep this hobby within your budget. Bring one (1) piece to be matted and framed. (No larger than 16 x 20.) You will leave these classes with your piece matted and framed by you at a very reasonable cost.
